New Media Art Club is excited to announce that co-director Anoushka Carroll has had a successful Arts Council England Project Grant for *Scroll, Place, Belong*!
*Scroll, Place, Belong* is a project in partnership with Leicester Libraries and aims to encourage residents to explore making digital collage and moving image work with their phones.
There will be a series of sessions at three City libraries with a final sharing showcase.
The work that participants make will then be edited into showreels and slideshows and exhibited on City Centre digital information screens, including bus stops and BT Links.
We hope that this activity creates an authentic, expressive self portrait of the city by the people that live here.
The project comes from an interest in the way people already use digital tools to document and express their everyday lives. A phone can hold photographs of familiar places, recordings of everyday moments, old memories and fragments of daily life. These materials can also become a starting point for creative work.
The workshops will be open to people with different levels of experience. Participants will be encouraged to experiment rather than produce technically polished work. The emphasis will be on what they want to notice, record and share about their surroundings.
For Anoushka, the project also marks a new direction in her practice, bringing together her experience in digital media and community engagement with a more collaborative approach to making artwork.
Over the coming months, we’ll be sharing more about the workshops, the participating libraries and the work as *Scroll, Place, Belong* develops.
The project begins in November 2026.

Congratulations! Please share more details when you can. Would be great to see it
