New perspectives on connectivity, creativity, and the digital age.
New Media Art Club, in collaboration with LCB Depot, is delighted to announce COMPUTALA, a month-long festival of art with the internet, taking place from January 10 to January 31, 2025.
Programme
Open Call Exhibition
What does the internet mean to you? How does it shape the way we connect? Is it simply a tool or something more? This exhibition invites artists to explore these questions, using the web as a space and medium to examine connection, community, and the layered complexities of online interaction.
Launch Private View, Symposium, and Film Screening
To celebrate the opening of COMPUTALA alongside the usual free booze and private view, we are hosting a short symposium with previous Lincoln Collection curator and Net Art researcher, Jenny Gleadell, before a screening of iconic 90’s film Hackers on VHS.
CQEarlies Family Activity Day
We take over LCB Depot's Cultural Quarter Earlies day of family friendly arts activities!
Plus a workshop from partners MBD on using the internet to animate.
AR Bootcamp Residency
Artist Nicholas Delap will lead the bootcamp, offering expertise in Unity, Blender, 3D capturing, and more. Use the bootcamp to develop a piece for the Computala Digital Art Month exhibition at the Lightbox Gallery in LCB Depot.
Downpour Games Workshop
With artist V Buckenham, explore the fascinating history of fortune-telling games and devices while learning to create your own with Downpour, a user-friendly game-making tool. All you need is your smartphone!
CEREMONY at Last Friday
We close the month long celebration with a multi-site performance evening during LCB Depot's Last Friday street food event.
