"My Deepfake Dad" Listening Event + Artist Q&A With artist Sarah Sweeney (via Zoom)


Content note: The work includes themes of death, bereavement, and the synthetic recreation of a deceased person’s voice.


Format: Listening session (approx. 27 minutes) followed by an artist talk and Q&A (Zoom)


My Deepfake Dad is an ongoing audio project centred on the creation of a synthetic version of Sweeney’s late father’s voice. Using archival recordings, interviews, and contemporary AI voice-cloning tools, Sweeney constructs scripted conversations between herself and a deepfake voice model trained on her father’s speech. These conversations are not presented as simulations of truth, but as speculative, constructed encounters that expose the limits and risks of voice technologies.
